I’m sure everyone’s been on pins and needles to find out what happened Saturday when I went back to the show to look at the RV again and leave a deposit, so here we go.
I went with 3 different friends on Saturday. Betty and John have a ton of camping experience and John knew more of the technical and mechanical questions to ask. Another friend Amy came with us too. We got there right when they opened at 10am and there was already a line out the door. Once through the doors we headed straight for the RV and met up with the sales person Mark. Mark is a newbie so I also spent a lot of time talking with the manager Kyle the day before.
Mark starts off by saying there’s a problem. The manufacturer is saying that yesterday was the last day to place an order for the 50th Anniversary Edition so you can’t get it. I of course said “What!?”. He said there was a mix up and they’re not taking any more orders for that RV. I asked to talk to Kyle but he said he was taking an application from another couple for the floor model so I wouldn’t be able to get that one either and I had to wait. Even though it was only a few minutes, it felt like forever.
Kyle finally comes over and proceeds to tell me the same thing and says besides I told you the price quoted was for the floor model. I said no, no, no that’s not true and that’s not going to work. I said that’s not what you said yesterday. We sat right there and I asked you if it was for the floor model and you said “no, yours would be ordered” and I asked how long would it take before delivery and you said “four to six weeks”. I said if I had known that I would have left the deposit yesterday but you said the price was good until the end of the show on Sunday. So he went to talk to the owner about the situation.
He came back and said they would honor it. They would place an order with all of the packages that came on the 50th Anniversary edition for the price he quoted me yesterday but you can’t get the yellow color. That was fine as I liked the off white color better anyways. When we did the paper work, I had him hand write out all of the packages that were included and made them both sign it.
Of course, the copier was broken and he couldn’t give me a copy of the agreement so I had Betty take pictures of it. Then I gave him my credit card for the deposit and the credit card thing was broken. He said he would call me Monday morning to take the deposit over the phone. So we will see at 9am if I actually have an RV or not. I may be driving to their lot today in Claremont, NH if they give me any problems when I call. God help them if I have to go up there!
Stay tuned to see if I actually have an RV on the way or if am I back to square one.
